Onze voeding is de lens op de wereld. Op persoonlijke herinneringen aan mensen, momenten en smaken. Wat we eten en wat we koken verbindt ons met onszelf, onze geschiedenis en elkaars cultuur. Eten zijn de verhalen die we willen vertellen en die andere ons vertellen. Wat is jouw verhaal en hoe verbindt wat je eet jou met de wereld, je voorouders en elkaar?

In de Timelab Eatery bouwen we aan een plek waar verhalen over en met eten tot leven komen, tot beleving en herinnering worden, tot debat en ontdekking leiden. We bieden een restaurant waar verschillende foodconcepten aan het publiek worden voorgesteld in de prachtige setting van een circulair restaurant en weelderige tuin met achterliggend de werking van Timelab waar verschillende makers en ateliers met elkaar verbonden zijn.

Ben je chef, food designer of hobbykok met een verhaal dat een weg zoekt? Stel je kandidaat voor deze food residentie. 

De foodresidentie is een springplank voor chefs. Je krijgt het restaurant met 40 zitplaatsen en een basis professionele keuken ter beschikking. We helpen jou met het ontwikkelen van jouw verhaal en het berekenen van de haalbaarheid van jouw concept. Je krijgt toegang tot het makerslab en een groep van gelijkgestemden. Samen testen we het concept tenslotte uit voor een publiek. 

We helpen jouw met het beheren van jouw kosten en inkomsten, je maakt gebruik van onze drankenkaart met Gentse dranken en krijgt toegang tot onze tuin vol eetbaar groen. We bieden een team van coaches en service personeel tijdens het publiek moment. Kom je van ver, dan bieden we jou ook een slaapplaats aan tijdens het traject. Nadien kan je indien gewenst jouw concept als professional herhalen in onze Eatery. 

Hoe  

stuur jouw cv en conceptvoorstel naar team@timelab.org tussen 15 januari en 15 februari. We selecteren de kandidaten in de 2de helft van februari en starten het traject van 3 weken vanaf maart. Dit kan fulltime zijn of gespreid over een langere periode. Samen maken we de geschikte agenda op maat van de kandidaat. 

Jouw voorstel moet minstens volgende vragen beantwoorden:

• welk verhaal wil je vertellen? en hoe verhoudt dit zich tot de oproep?
• welke expertise heb je aanvullend nodig?
• welk format zie je voor ogen?
• wie is jouw publiek?
• welke periode ben je beschikbaar gedurende de 3 weken?

Ieder seizoen lanceren we een nieuwe call, dus als het deze keer niet lukt, probeer gewoon volgende keer!

Our food is our lens on the world, on personal memories of people, moments and tastes. What we eat and what we cook connects us with ourselves, our history and each other's culture. In eating, we tell our stories and discover other’s stories. What is your story and how does food connect you to the world, your ancestors and others? 

In the Timelab Eatery we are building a place where stories about and with food become alive, become experiences and memories, start debates and excite explorations. We offer a restaurant where different food concepts will be presented to the public in a magnificent decor of the circular restaurant and garden against the backdrop of the Timelab workspace with many interconnected makers and workspaces. 

Are you a chef, food designer or a candidate chef with the passion of a story that is looking for a way to come to life? Apply for a foodways residency.

We support you with a restaurant of 40 seats and a basic professional kitchen. We guide you in developing your story, feasibility, and use of local resources. You will get access to the makerspace and a group of peers. Together we test your concept in a public event. 

We help you with balancing costs and income, you offer drinks from your local partners and get access to our edible garden. We offer a team of coaches and service staff during the event. Are you traveling from abroad? You can use our artists’ flat to stay. Afterwards you can use the Eatery as a pro !

How

Send your application (CV and concept to Team@timelab.org between January 15 and February 15. We will select the candidates in the second half of February and start a 3 week journey from March on. Fulltime or spread over a longer time. Together we will decide on the calendar that fits the applicant.

Your application should answer following questions:

• What is the story you want to tell? 
• what type of expertise do you need?
• What is the format you have in mind? 
• Who is your audience?
• What does your availability look like in the 3 weeks period?
