Renée Strikkeling is a designer with a Master’s degree in textile design. In her work, the thread acts as an important starting point. For her the thread can be an aesthetic object, an inspiration, a transitional object or an essential point for textile manufacturing. The endless possibilities, meanings of the thread and the binding, form new structures and research directions.
An important focus point within her work is questioning and investigating the past, present and future meanings, values and functions of the thread, allowing new definitions to emerge. She approaches the research domain from various angles, such as; ecology, culture, literature, historical, philosophical or social.
In her work she searches for the smallest utilitarian particle to unravel the mathematical diversity. This is where she finds her expertise, appreciation, fascination and passion for textiles.
