Mathias Timmermans is a designer, strategist, community builder and facilitator. With a background in the arts, he has been working at the intersection of culture, communication and social change for more than 25 years.
His career began at LUCA School of Arts (master degrees Graphic Design and Fine Arts) continued through Kunstencentrum Vooruit (now VierNulVier) Brugge Plus and Ghent European Youth Capital, as well as change-oriented projects for organisations including Kunst in Huis. As an art director, concept developer and project coordinator, he has worked for Flemish and international organisations, cities and artists. His projects have included Jong Volk, Kookeet, Theater aan Zee, Le Grand Mix, Jazz Bilzen and the artists’ collective The Distillery.
In his work, Mathias is always looking for new common ground: a space where different perspectives, areas of expertise and interests can meet. He translates artistic and social ambitions into clear narratives, workable structures and open formats. In doing so, he moves effortlessly between strategy and practice, and between concept and implementation.
